Russia has stepped up attacks on civilian infrastructure with long-range missiles over the last seven days, the British Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.

The strikes hit an electricity as well as a dam in the central Ukrainian industrial city Kryvyi Rih.

Yet the civilian targets was unlikely for military effect. As Russia faces setbacks on the front lines, Russia has extended the locations it is prepared to strike to "undermine the morale of the Ukrainian people and government," said the MoD.

Zelensky says Russian forces must be held responsible for actions

Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy has accused Russian forces that recently occupied much of Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region on using torture on a large scale.

The president's nightly addess, Zelenskky stressed on Saturday that at least ten torture sites have been discovered in the recaptured region.

"Torture was a widespread practice in the occupied territory," Zelenskyy said, comparing the Russian's behaviour with the Nazis during World War II.

"They don't make soap out of people... But the principle is the same. Camps where people are gathered to kill. Deportations. Burnt cities and villages, completely destroyed."

Similar to the Nazis, Russian's must be held responsible for their actions, said Zelenskyy. "We will establish the identities of all those who tortured and abused people, who brought these atrocities from Russia into Ukrainian territory."

Biden warns Putin not to use chemical weapons or tactical nuclear weapons

US President Joe Biden warned Russian President Vladimir Putin not to use chemical weapons or tactical nuclear weapons after Russia has faced setbacks on the front in the war in Ukraine.

"Don't, don't, don't," Biden told Putin during an interview with CBS News aired on Saturday. "You will change the image of war in a way not seen since World War II."

Tactical nuclear weapons are used on or near the battlefield to directly influence the course of the battle. Biden said Russians would become "even more of a pariah in the world than they've ever been."

Biden didn't say what how exactly the US would respond, only that its response would depend on how Putin would attack.

Ukraine's successful counteroffensive in the northeast of Ukraine, has put pressure on Putin from Russian nationalists to retake the initiative. Putin has warned that if Russia's troops were put under increased pressure, he could resort to unconventional weapons such as tactical nuclear and chemical weapons, reported Reuters.
