Aircraft noise pollution- Campaign groups Bruxelles Aire Libre and Pas Question welcome ban

On Tuesday, campaign groups Pas Question and Bruxelles Air Libre both welcomed the agreement reached between the negotiators of the Swedish coalition to impose a ban on the flight routes from the national airport and temporarily return to the use of the flight routes in place before February 6th. Both campaign groups recall that on July 31st the Brussels Court criticized the plan and the aircraft noise being produced over Brussels most densely populated regions.

For Bruxelles Air Libre, the announcement of the ban is part of a"resolutely constructive message to those concerned about the law, democracy and fairness."

Pas Question believes that this “fair and courageous” decision is a crucial step in the development of a new plan that will not continuously affect the more than 600,000 people living in Brussels". The citizen's movement  is requesting that the government be actively prepared to implement the ban as soon as possible.

It will then be up to the next government to establish procedures that will objectify the situation and provide sustainable solutions to the problem.
