Belfius and Dexia police searches

Belfius and Dexia police searches

A series of raids on Belfius and Dexia at the end of last month was ordered by Brussels public prosecutor's department, reported the De Standaard on Friday. The searches were carried out as part of a judicial enquiry opened after the publishing of misleading or sensitive information about Dexia shares between 2008 and 2011. The investigation was initiated after lawyer Geert Lenssens, working for several private investors in 2011, filed a complaint with the Brussels public prosecutor's department. The lawyer's clients accuse management of the Dexia bank of providing them with misleading information regarding Dexia's true financial situation during the period between the 2008 banking crisis and the later dismantling of the bank in 2011.

Several documents were recovered during the searches, but no arrests were made.
