Belgians in Syria - Jean-Louis Denis still in custody

On Thursday, Brussels' Criminal Division (Chambre des Mises en Accusation) confirmed the arrest warrants for Jean-Louis Denis, Mickaël Devredt and Mohamed Khemir. They are suspected of terrorist activity, of encouraging young Belgian Muslims to go to fight in Syria. The Criminal Division confirmed the Council Chamber's decision to extend the arrest warrants for the three defendants.

Last October, the Council Chamber chose to detain Jean-Louis Denis, nicknamed "the submissive", Mickaël Devredt, also known as "Abourayan", and Mohamed Khemir.

They are charged with participating in terrorist activities. They are suspected of encouraging young Belgian Muslims to join the armed jihad in Syria.

Jean-Louis Denis in particular, is suspected of having convinced two Athénée Fernand Blum Schaerbeek students, both in their teens, to join the fight in Syria, back in April 2013.
