Brussels director Julien Vrebos dies aged 75

Brussels director Julien Vrebos has died at the age of 75, the VRT announced on Friday.

In addition to being a director, notably of the films “The Masked Ball” and “The Emperor’s Wife,” Julien Vrebos was also a public figure in Brussels.

Julien Vrebos was born in Ixelles in 1947. After studying surveying and photography, he worked for years as a municipal civil servant before entering the media through sports journalism.

At the end of the 1970s, he began to report on social issues.

In 1998, he made his debut as a filmmaker with the detective film "The Masked Ball." Five years later, he made "The Emperor’s Wife."
