UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has resigned, according to British media reports, which attribute her departure to a violation of Britain's ministerial code.

“Earlier today, I sent an official document from my personal email to a trusted parliamentary colleague," Braverman said in her resignation letter, which she posted on Twitter on Tuesday night.  "This is a technical breach of the rules,” she admitted. "I have made a mistake. I accept responsibility. I resign."

The 42-year-old Braverman is the second minister within a week to leave the cabinet of Prime Minister Liz Truss, after Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng.

She belonged to the radical-right wing of the Conservative Party and repeatedly stood out with statements about her plans for a tougher approach to deportations. She recently went on a rant in parliament against the “Guardian-reading, tofu-eating” left.

The 47-year-old Truss, prime minister for only six weeks, has been in a shaky position since her 180-degree turn in tax policy. This was seen as inevitable after unfunded tax cuts led to serious turmoil in financial markets. She fired her finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng last week and replaced him with Jeremy Hunt, but her popularity is still well below par.
