The mother of the child found dead on Saturday on the banks of the Huveaune River in Marseille has admitted killing her autistic son “with a knife taken from the kitchen,” the public prosecutor’s office said in a statement on Sunday.
The 39-year-old woman admitted to having first “hit her son” in her flat on Friday, the day she reported his “disappearance,” before taking him "to the ravine,” (the Huveaune River). She then killed him with the knife, the office of the Marseille public prosecutor, Dominique Laurens, said.
The child's lifeless body was found on Saturday by his father and uncle.
The prosecutor's office said the child died in the afternoon, even before his disappearance was reported.
