Two spectators (aged 16 and 18) were killed in an accident at the Condroz Rally in Liège on Sunday when a car slid off the track and collided with the crowd.
The accident occurred around 15:30 on Sunday in Moha, a borough of the Liège municipality of Wanze. It was drizzling at the time.
"Car 22 went off the road in classification stage 17 of Bas-Oha–Wanzoul," the organisation said in a statement on its website. "The car hit a small barrier before going on its side and hitting a group of spectators who were in an area that was closed to the public."

"Despite the prompt action of the emergency services, two people were killed," the statement reads. Two other people (a third spectator and a crew member) – instead of the 11 previously reported by local media – were taken to hospital for a check-up, but their lives were not in danger.
In the meantime, the Liège public prosecutor's office has confirmed the two fatalities: they are a 16-year-old girl from the city of Hannut and an 18-year-old young man from the city of Huy.
A medical examiner, a car expert and the public prosecutor immediately went to the scene of the accident. According to the first findings, the car went off the road due to aquaplaning.
