Belgium's Laurens Devos became world champion in para table tennis for the second time in his career on Friday in Granada, Spain.
Competing in Class 9, the 22-year-old Belgian beat the UK's Joshua Stacey by 3 sets to 1 (11-6, 11-1, 12-14 and 11-6) in the final. Devos thus completes his list of achievements, as he is a double Class 9 Paralympic champion, having won in Rio in 2016 and in Tokyo in 2020.
He became world champion for the first time in 2018.
Devos also plays in the able-bodied section, where he is 303rd in the world.
Another Belgian table tennis player, Florian Van Acker, has won a bronze medal in Class 11 at the World Championships in Granada. Van Acker, 25, was the Class 11 Olympic champion in Rio in 2016 and won bronze in Tokyo in 2020. He was world champion in 2018.
Laurens Devos and Ben Ashok Despineux also won bronze in the doubles event (MD18), after being beaten in the semi-finals by Ukraine 3 sets to 2 on Monday.
