“Brussels Bubble”, a monthly networking event organised by “Expats in Brussels”, the largest Facebook group of its kind in Belgium, will host its latest event from 19:30 on 18 November, bringing together 250 expats from more than 30 countries from across the world.

First launched during the Covid-19 pandemic as a way for local expats to meet, socialise, and network in small groups under pandemic regulations, the event has quickly grown into Brussels’ largest expat social. The event regularly sells out, packing out venues each month.

Hosted from the famous Place de Luxembourg, the heart of the capital of Europe, the event is a unique mix of expats and locals, all seeking to expand their social circles and networks.

Unlike other events, the Brussels Bubble is adapted to the needs of each individual guest. When registering for the event through the official website, attendees are asked a series of questions which will help pair you with like minded expats, helping to break the ice and saving on awkward first introductions.

“A coloured bracelet is assigned to you based on your profile and preferences and a bracelet with a short message of your choice will be given to you at the door,” the organisers say.

Different coloured wristbands will help expats match with fellow professionals in the charity sector, corporate world, EU bubble, and more. There are also wristbands for students, academics, and other “party animals.”

Included in the price of the ticket, guests will receive free bar tokens, which can be used to redeem drinks, snacks, or food.

The event is intended to serve as a no-pressure social mixer for Brussels expats from all walks of life to get to know each other and form lasting connections. As the evening progresses, the DJ will turn up the music, and the party will really begin.

Maxime, organiser of the event, says that the event was conceived to help alleviate the high turn-over rate in the community of foreign workers in Brussels, allowing expats to form meaningful connections, work contacts, and friends during their time in the Belgian capital.

“Everyone is there to socialise and network. It’s an event where saying hi to a stranger is encouraged, we don’t want anyone to sit alone. This is a unique experience, an event where you come as strangers and leave with like-minded friends. If you come regularly, everyone knows your name,” he said.

To attend the event, register online at bxbubble.com. Book early to avoid disappointment, as around 60% of tickets have already been sold. Tickets are €11 and include two free drinks tokens.
