Air France staff have filed a notice to strike over the Christmas period after the airline's management and staff unions failed to reach an agreement on working conditions for the French flagship air carrier's cabin crew.
Scheduled to run from 22 December to 2 January, the strike would be a disaster for Air France, which, like many other commercial air carriers, has only recently begun to recover from the devastating economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"This notice must serve as a warning to our management," read a union leaflet published on Tuesday. "If this warning is not taken, only strong collective action will be able to tip the balance."

Air France has reportedly told AFP that "negotiations are still ongoing" between the unions and its upper management, and that its "goal is to reach a new agreement" with the relevant unions.
In an open letter to Air France published on November 14, the unions called for the implementation of a "temporary contractual solution" on behalf of the airline's cabin crew "during the period of negotiation".
