The first edition of the Sustainable Culture Forum, bringing together some 150 stakeholders from different fields (performing arts, music, festivals, museums, cinema, etc.), was held on Tuesday at the Delta in Namur.

The Forum is an initiative of the platform, promoted by the non-profit organisation Pastoo, which is responsible for the Namur in May and LaSemo festivals. Its objective is to help the culture sector to speed up its transition by bringing together its players to design the best possible solutions for sustainable development.

Throughout the day, the forces involved were able to attend conferences and exchange views on practical cases. The themes were eco-responsible digital technology, sustainable food, waste management, mobility and social inclusion.

“I think I can say that this day was very useful for all the actors present,” a delighted Samuel Chappel, director of the Pastoo association, said. “Festivals worked together on a standard mobility plan to make the public come in a more sustainable way.

“There was also a joint reflection on the reduction of energy consumption, notably around the renovation of buildings and incentives in this area. Some of them also envisaged the pooling of infrastructure and equipment.”

“As a bonus, each of the stakeholders set themselves three concrete sustainability targets, which will stimulate everyone,” Chappel said.
