Europol announced on Monday that it had taken over 12,500 websites offline and seized more than 127,000 counterfeit products as part of a large-scale, coordinated action against counterfeiting and online piracy.
The operation was carried out between 1 May and 14 November in 27 countries, including Belgium, the European criminal police agency said.
In total, 12,526 websites, 32 servers and 15 internet shops were taken offline. A total of 127,365 counterfeit products were seized, including clothing, watches and electronic devices, worth over €3.8 million.
Fourteen people were arrested and/or charged during this operation, while an arrest warrant was issued for another ten persons.
