The Arlon pre-trial chamber ruled on Tuesday that the four suspects arrested during a drug bust in which 115 kilogrammes of cocaine were seized must remain in police custody.
The cocaine had a street value of about €11.5 million. It was seized during an operation by Luxembourg’s Federal Judicial Police (FGP) on Saturday along the N4 in Arlon.
The suspects had hidden the drugs among concrete tiles to facilitate export. A total of 103 packages weighing more than a kilogramme each were found.
Two of the suspects are Serbian nationals, the third is Polish and the fourth Bosnian, the Luxembourg prosecutor’s office said.
The operation was the result of a lengthy investigation by the FGP, with the support of special units of the federal police and colleagues from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to dismantle a Serbian criminal organisation active in international cocaine trafficking.
Simultaneous searches were conducted with the support of special units in the Netherlands, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Serbia.
