Two Belgian museums — the Espace Muséal d'Andenne (EMA) and the FeliX Art & Eco Museum — are in the for the 2023 European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA), set to be handed out in May of next year, in a ceremony at the Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA).
Sponsored by the Council of Europe since 1977, The EMYA is widely regarded as the industry's most prestigious award. As a result, the winner is announced each year as part of the European Museum Forum's annual conference. Next year, two Belgian institutes will be among the 33 nominees up for the prize.

The first nominee is the FeliX Art & Eco Museum, located in the Flemish municipality of Drogenbos. Surrounded by five hectares of greenery, the painter Félix De Boeck aimed to mix art and ecology by allowing residents to visit an educational farm all while admiring his avant-garde artworks.
The second nominee is the EMA, which is in a spectacular 'lighthouse' building in the Walloon town of Andenne. Inside, visitors can see various archaeological artefacts from the nearby Scladina cave.
Both must now wait until May to see if they can surpass last year's four compatriot candidates by bringing the prize back home.
