The International Anime Music Festival will be held in Palace 12 at the Heysel in Brussels on Saturday 29 April 2023, the event’s organiser, FKP Scorpio, announced on Monday.
This is the first time that virtual pop stars from Japan will perform in Belgium.
Among the pop groups sharing the Heysel stage will be the VTubers (virtual YouTubers) and Vocaloids, virtual singers with computer-generated voices.
The programme further includes headliners Kizuna AI Original Singeroid #kzn and HIMEHINA, the ever-popular GUMI, the new girl band MaRiNaSu and the LiLYPSE twins.
These performers may not physically exist, but their voices are real and belong to real persons, which is what makes this concert unique.
Using high-tech LED screens and digital projections, the pop stars come to life as animated characters.
These avatars are a hit with the general public and have millions of followers worldwide through channels such as YouTube, Twitter and TikTok.
For example, Kizuna AI original singerloid #kzn is a pioneer in the world of VTubers and has more than 4.5 million followers on YouTube, says FKP Scorpio.
Tickets for the show will go on sale from Friday 16 December 2022 at 10am on www.fkpscorpio.be.
