Fleming households produced an average of 471 kilogrammes of waste last year.
This is the lowest amount registered since 1994, according to the latest annual figures from the Flemish Waste Agency OVAM, released on Tuesday. This means the objectives of the region's waste plan have almost been achieved.
Per capita waste production was on average 4 kg less than in 2020, due entirely to a drop in residual waste.
