Candlelight raclette is the new trend this festive season as people once again gather around a cosy table with a pot of melted cheese between them. It will not only save you money on your gas bill but promises to make the meal an even more irresistible experience than usual.

As temperatures drop, it’s a good time to embrace the winter tradition of raclette. Warm, aromatic melted cheese over potatoes, sausage…you name it. It is the perfect comfort food for the festive period when the cold keeps you indoors. Now there is a new trend in raclette making that fits perfectly with the times we’re living in.

After candlelight dinner, there is now candlelight raclette. It has been five years since it entered the market, and yet it remains largely unknown to the general public. Pioneers such as Cookut have led this unusual take on the raclette machine, offering desirable mini models catering for singles or couples.

No electricity needed

As the name suggests, the candle raclette works with a flame and no electricity and avoiding the normal hassle of finding a plug near the table for the power cable.

Most often small and individual, the object is much less bulky than our traditional massive raclettes and, in addition, it does not heat the drinks and salads that are positioned nearby.

For the most sceptical, it is important to note that cheese melts just as quickly as with an electric raclette machine, that is, in only about three minutes. At the time of energy conservation, this unusual object is experiencing a boom. Sales are reported to have increased by 22% this year in France.

While figures for Belgium are currently unknown, the appetite for raclette is growing.
