12 children have been adopted by same sex couples in French-speaking Belgium since 2006, when homosexual couples were given the right to adopt, the Sudpresse papers revealed on Monday. This low figure is explained by the length and complexity of the procedures. The procedure is the same for heterosexual and homosexual couples. However, heterosexual couples can adopt internationally, whereas homosexual couples can’t, as many countries refuse to let same sex couples adopt.
