Initially scheduled to finish on 1 January, the stalls and ice rinks of Brussels' Winter Wonders market ('Plaisir d'Hiver' in French, 'Winterpret' in Dutch) located on Place Monnaie and Place De Brouckère will remain in place for another week, until 8 January.
The last weekend of Winter Winters is in sight, but due to its success, the City of Brussels has decided to keep (part of it) around for a little longer. The ice rink, curling rinks and chalets on Place de la Monnaie and De Brouckère will remain open for another week, as long as the school holidays last.
However, on Place de la Bourse, Marché aux Poissons and Place Sainte-Catherine, all stalls and attractions – including the Ferris wheel – will close as planned at 22:00 on Sunday 1 January.

On the Grand Place, the giant Christmas tree will also remain lit during the extra week, and the sound and light show on the facades of historical buildings will also continue to take place every evening. The City of Brussels previously indicated that Winter Wonders is a success; after three weeks, more than 2 million visitors had descended on the capital city by 18 December.
