A 59-year-old man was found dead on the first day of 2023 as a result of a possible hunting accident in West Flanders, the local prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday.
The victim’s body was discovered in an open field at around 12:30 in Oodelem, near Beernem.
A gunshot wound was found on the victim’s body. The prosecution sent a weapons expert to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the death.
The most likely hypothesis is that the victim killed himself with the hunting rifle he was carrying with him.
