A town in Southern Belgium has become the biggest hot spot in the region for people with disabilities by offering nightlife entertainment – in the middle of the afternoon. Karaoke events, discos and festivals are being put on in several locations in and around the town of Sainte-Cécile, in the Province of Luxembourg, to provide people with mental or motor disabilities and their companions with the chance to let their hair down.

The events are being organised by non-profit organisation Le Point d'eau in the Walloon municipality of Martelange and the Les Tourets cabaret venue in Sainte-Cécile.

It all started with a karaoke event but it proved so popular that an afternoon disco was added to the bimonthly karaoke to give punters another option. Now the calendar is full of events for months to come, with other associations and organisations booking Les Tourets as the venue for their own entertainment opportunities.

The nightclub was sold out in the last few months of 2022 with more than 80 participants from eight different institutions providing events for people with disabilities.

Le Point d'Eau is no stranger to arranging such events and has hosted an outdoor festival called "Rock a'Grume" since 2017 – which is inclusive for anyone with disabilities. Local artists, whether pop, rock, folk or electro have shared the stage with big names like Saule or DJ Daddy K.

The next festival takes place on 19 May in the village of Grumelange, while afternoon entertainment continues through the first half of the year – at least – at Les Tourets.
