The Road Action Cell (RAC), comprising the Walloon Regional Crisis Centre (CRC-W), the Perex Centre and the Federal Road Police, remained activated on Wednesday following the latest weather forecast.
It has issued a recommendation urging anyone needing to use the road to remain cautious and vigilant, especially on the secondary network.
Winter showers are expected late Wednesday night and Thursday morning in Walloon Brabant and Liege. Snow could also fall locally in the other Walloon provinces. As a result, vigilance is still being stepped up and the situation on the region’s road network is being monitored regularly.
However, no restrictions on the movement of heavy goods vehicles more than 13 metres long have been deemed necessary. Motorists are advised to adapt their speed, avoid any sudden manoeuvres, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, use snow tyres, check the condition of their vehicles and refrain from overtaking the spreaders.
The RAC also recommends that people check the traffic conditions on the regional road network before setting out (http://trafiroutes.wallonie.be or http://www.inforoutes.be).
The Cell was activated on Monday evening.
