A shooting occurred on Saturday evening in a restaurant located on the Grand Place in the Walloon city of Binche, RTL Info reports. At around 23:00, around twenty armed and hooded men descended on the Grand Place and attacked an individual before firing blanks rounds inside the Binchoise Tavern.

The hooded men appeared from each corner of the square before entering the restaurant and vandalising the premises. Inside the restaurant, the hooligans fired blanks before fleeing. The events happened within a matter of minutes. The attackers waited until 23:00, when the city turned off its public lighting.

“About twenty hooded individuals took advantage of the fact that the public lighting was turned off at 23:00 to gather on the Grand Place in Binche. They broke everything they could in the café. They fired shots while leaving the scene. They were blanks,” said Vincent Fiasse, the King’s prosecutor of Charleroi.

RTL Info says that the attack was most likely perpetrated by a gang of individuals from La Louvière, following a fight which took place the day before between a local and someone from the neighbouring city.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack. Local police are investigating the attack.
