Incomes of Brussels inhabitants decline

Disposable incomes for those living in Brussels in recent years are, for the first time, lower than for those in Wallonia.
So reports De Tijd on Wednesday, on the basis of recent figures from the Institut des Comptes Nationaux (which compiles such statistics).

Economic activity has fallen by 0.5% over the period 2012-2014. Available incomes of Brussels inhabitants fell every year between 2009 and 2013, with an overall reduction of 3%.

Several reasons were given, such as the fact that prosperous families are moving towards the periphery of Brussels, as well as the labour mobility issues which are coercing businesses to leave for Walloon Brabant and Flemish Brabant.
