Several construction companies were raided on Monday in the Liège region in Wallonia, L-Post reports. Searchers were made in relation to labour offences.

Companies RV Construct, LSA Construct, and Vidon-I Mmobiliare, owned by – what L-Post refers to as–  the “V family” are suspected of fraudulent activities.

The searches also targeted Wust (a subsidiary of the Besix group) and SERBI SA, which use personnel from companies belonging to the V family.

According to L-Post, the companies are accused of bringing cheap illegal labour from Romania to Belgium to work on construction sites, thereby “distorting competition.”

The companies are charged with being a criminal organisation, as well as having committed forgery, using forgeries, fraud, and non-payment of social security contributions.
