Brussels residents pay less and less tax

The tax paid by the Brussels population has fallen dramatically over the last 20 years, La Libre Belgique reported on Saturday. While the average amount of tax paid per Brussels resident was 6.4% above the national average in 1994, it was 20.6% below it last year. These figures were provided by the Finance SPF.

Earnings in Wallonia have remained relatively stable over the last 20 years, which means Flanders is contributing to the State’s budget more and more. The tax paid by the Flemish was 5.6% above the Belgian average in 1994, and 10.3% above it in 2015.
