Dutch e-commerce company Coolblue is set to open two new physical locations in Belgium this year, the company announced during a presentation of its yearly results. It is not yet known where the new stores will be located.
According to company CEO Pieter Zwart, 2022 was a difficult year for Coolblue. Consumers have massively reined in their spending due to the energy crisis and high inflation, which has led to lower demand for televisions and laptops this year.
Despite this Coolblue managed to very slightly increase its turnover last year by 0.65% to €2.35 billion. This is largely due to “strong growth in Germany.” The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) dropped to €43 million.
In 2021, the company made roughly €2.3 billion in sales, growing rapidly on the back of an e-commerce boom during the Covid-19 pandemic.
