Dutch postal service PostNL plans to cut 200 to 300 full-time jobs (FTEs) by 2023, it announced on Sunday night. The company is also taking other measures to cut costs.

Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL, referred to the challenging economic and geopolitical environments in 2022 as a key motivation for cutting staff. “These difficult conditions are expected to continue in 2023,” she said.

“It is, therefore, crucial that we continue to invest to strengthen our foundations and consolidate our position in a dynamic and highly competitive market,” Verhagen stated.

In total, the cuts will result in cost savings of €20 million in 2023, PostNL added. The cuts mainly affect the Parcel division. A further €25 million in savings is expected in 2024 and €30 million a year from 2025.

PostNL will release the financial results for 2022 on Monday.
