Emergency services rushed to the scene near the Brussels Midi/South Station to free a 10-year-old boy who had become trapped between a tram and the platform on Wednesday afternoon.
A technical crew of the Brussels public transport company STIB had to intervene to lift the tram. It is unclear how the incident happened.
"The victim was conscious and has since been freed," Brussels fire brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw told Bruzz. The boy suffered injuries to his legs, but his life is not in danger.
Due to the incident, tram traffic on lines 81 and 82 was interrupted for a while near Midi/South Station.
