Several cars were engulfed in flames on Thursday evening in Brussels municipality of Anderlecht, the Brussels Fire Brigade reported on Friday. No injuries were reported and surrounding buildings were not damaged. An initial investigation seems to point towards an accidental cause of the fire.

"It was several private cars that were in the parking lot of a company on Boulevard Industriel," fire brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw said. "We arrived on the site around 01:45 with two fire engines, two ladder trucks and a tanker truck."

A surrounding patch of vegetation, owned by Belgian rail infrastructure company Infrabel, was also set alight by the blaze.

The fire produced a lot of smoke but was fortunately contained within an industrial area, with no homes nearby. Rail traffic was undisturbed by the fire.
