The Brussels Council Chamber decided to bail the 19 suspects in the robbery of an armoured truck carrying diamonds on Friday. The incident took place at Zaventem Airport on the 18th of February 2013, the Hal-Vilvorde Prosecutor’s office revealed on Friday. The date the case will appear in court has not yet been fixed, but the suspects should be back before the Tribunal early next year.
The robbery took place at Brussels Airport. It was committed by eight heavily armed masked men disguised as police officers. The suspects headed towards an airplane belonging to the Swiss airline, which contained cargo from Brink’s. Their loot – mainly diamonds – is estimated to be worth 38 million euros. It is one of the biggest gem heists of the last few years.
