People usually want to avoid walking into a courthouse but on Saturday 11 March, the public is invited to discover courthouses in Brussels and Wallonia risk-free.
As part of an open day, the iconic Palais de Justice de Bruxelles on Place Poelaert – where decades-long renovations will soon be completed – will be opened. So too will courthouses in various Walloon cities, providing a unique opportunity for the public to see inside.
As well as visiting the courtrooms themselves, visitors can also ask lawyers questions about the justice system, laws and the role of lawyers. The visit will be a chance to learn about the legal profession in general through various workshops.
Lawyers hope that these open days will allow people to see a more "human face of the judicial institution."
