Workers at Belgium's major postal service bpost have gone on strike in Brussels on Tuesday morning, Belga News Agency reports. The striking employees are protesting the recent dismissal of a colleague on sick leave in the municipality of Watermael-Boitsfort.

The company has confirmed that the strike action concerns around 40 workers and was spread across their offices in the City of Brussels, Anderlecht, Uccle and Watermael-Boitsfort. The protest had caused minor disruptions, especially in Watermael-Boitsfort.

CGSP Poste, the union representing the striking postal workers, stated that the recently dismissed employee was on sick leave due to worsening working conditions and a growing workload. This has led to an increasing number of sick leaves. "When a worker is a little too sick for their liking," CGSP Poste's regional secretary Geoffrey Hoyois added, "they are fired."
