Beauty pageants for children and youngsters under 16 are entirely unacceptable. This emerges from a proposal for a resolution, which was unanimously adopted yesterday (Wednesday) by the Flemish parliament.

In this text, the deputies stress the potential risks of such pageants for children and are calling upon the government to formally ban them.

Last year, the federal Minister for Employment, Kris Peeters (of the Flemish Christian Democrats), banned the Mini-Miss Belgium pageant after the relevant assessment by the Social Inspectorate had been completed.
