A man has died in hospital following a shooting that took place early on Monday on Rue Neuve in Charleroi, the local prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday morning.
The victim, in his thirties, was struck by a bullet in the chest. Another victim was also shot in the calf. The more seriously injured victim was taken to hospital and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital several hours later.
Police are now investigating the circumstances behind the incident. The suspect in the murder is still at large.

“We still do not know his identity and we have no more information concerning the context and the motivation of the incident,” the prosecutor's office said. Prosecutors say that the victim was unknown to the police.
