The Prime Minister, Charles Michel, had to postpone a scheduled presentation in parliament today (Tuesday). His spokesman indicated that this was owing to hearing damage suffered when the starting gun for the Brussels 20K was fired on Sunday.
The Prime Minister was with Princess Astrid when she signalled the start of the race using a blank pistol.
The photographs taken at the time showed Charles Michel being surprised by the noise of the gun being fired.
Barend Leyts stated, “The Prime Minister had to undergo a series of treatments in the 48 hours following the incident.”
Charles Michel underwent an initial medical examination on Monday but these medical tests went on through to today.
The Prime Minister was expected today (Tuesday) in the Home Affairs Committee, where he was due to present his National Investment Pact.
