Brussels public transport company STIB will be carrying out maintenance and modernisation works at the Hankar metro station during the long Easter weekend of 8, 9 and 10 April, causing metro traffic to be interrupted between Merode and Herrmann-Debroux.
To increase frequencies as part of the metro modernisation, STIB needs a second access to the Delta depot and is therefore extending the track to the metro depot up until metro line 5 – creating a second entrance just before Hankar station coming from Delta.
Maintenance works will also include the installation of a facilitated change at the station entrance to connect both tracks in the direction of Erasmus. Due to the scope of the works, Metro line 5 will not run between Merode and Herrmann-Debroux for the duration of the works, from Saturday 8 to Monday 10 April.
Line 5 (Erasmus – Herrmann-Debroux) will not serve the stretch between Thieffry and Herrmann-Debroux and will instead be diverted to Stockel (line 1 Stockel - Weststation/Gare de Ouest) from Merode. STIB will put shuttle buses in place to transport travellers between Merode stations and Herrmann-Debroux terminus.
