Belgium’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office indicated today that federal police had conducted eight searches, during this morning, in a terrorism case. It thus confirmed information which had appeared on the Internet sites for La Libre Belgique and La Dernière Heure.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office said that the searches focused upon a group of fighters who left for Syria in 2014. La Dernière Heure and La Libre Belgique said that investigators were mainly looking for Samir El Yaakoubi, who lives in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
Five searches were conducted in Molenbeek, one in Jette, one in Asse and one in Anderlecht. A number of items are thought to have been seized.
