Eurozone house prices up by 2.9% in the last quarter of 2022

House prices rose by 2.9% in the euro zone and 3.6% in the European Union in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, Eurostat reported on Tuesday.

In Belgium, the increase was 4.7%, according to the European statistical office.

Compared with the third quarter of 2022, house prices fell by 1.7% in the euro area and by 1.5% in the EU.

Of the Member States for which data was available, seven recorded annual house price increases of more than 10% in the fourth quarter. The largest increases were observed in Croatia (+17.3%), Estonia (+16.9%), Hungary (+16.5%) and Lithuania (+16.0%).

On the other hand, prices fell in Denmark (-6.5%), Sweden (-3.7%), Germany (-3.6%) and Finland (-2.3%).
