The mother and two sisters of the Belgian killed during the terrorist attack in New York are returning to Belgium. The Mayor of Staden, Francesco Vanderjeugd, stated it is not yet known when the body of the young woman, aged 31 from Staden, will be repatriated to Belgium.
The Mayor of Staden is doing everything possible, together with the Belgian Foreign Affairs ministry, to repatriate the young woman’s body, but has yet to receive the consent from the American authorities. The family has requested on several occasions that its privacy be respected.
A book of condolence has been started at the De Oever family and child and adolescent welfare organisation in Oostnieuwkerke.
