An individual caught in the act of stealing metals on Sunday evening in Liege has been detained, the city's public prosecutor’s office said on Monday.
Police officers were alerted at around 11 p.m. on Sunday to the fact that the man was searching containers with a view to stealing the metals inside.
When he was arrested, the 1971-born suspect was carrying a pair of pliers, a tool he apparently used to facilitate the theft.
The suspect, a known drug user, has been deprived of his freedom. He was referred to the Liège public prosecutor’s office on Monday and will soon be summoned to appear before the Liège criminal court, the prosecutor's office said.
