The suspect in the murder of a woman in the Brussels commune of Etterbeek on Tuesday last week has been arrested in Germany. He is reportedly also under investigation in connection with the murder of a taxi driver.

On Tuesday 4 April, a 53-year-old woman was found lying on the sofa in her flat on Rue Philippe Baucq in Etterbeek, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office confirmed last week.

It was believed the woman's ex-partner, who was recently released from prison, killed her by slitting her throat. The couple reportedly had “fights every day” which often required police intervention, while he reportedly subjected her to abuse on numerous occasions in the past.

The 24-year-old has been on the run since the incident last week but has now been arrested in Germany, the Brussels public prosecutor's office said on Wednesday, confirming a report by the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agenturde (dpa).
