Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Secretary of State for the Budget Alexia Bertrand on Monday evening visited ASBL Capital, a Brussels-based non-profit organisation that aims to help young people in the capital develop their talents.

The two government officials visited the NGO on the occasion of the iftar, the breaking of the fast during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

By initiating dialogue with young Brussels citizens from the Muslim community, the Prime Minister said he wanted to fuel the debate on identity and entrepreneurship. “I am very grateful to be here,” he said. “Our country has huge potential, but we don’t always seize it. I think the work of ASBL Capital is phenomenal,” he said at the start of the iftar. “I’m a little hungry, but mostly I’m hungry for your ideas.”

Secretary of State Bertrand, too, showed interest in the non-profit’s work. “I find what you are doing extraordinary,” she said. “I’m from Brussels myself, and I know that the city is teeming with talent.”

The guests then broke their fast, with a date and soup, before the traditional buffet was served.
