The remains of a person were found at Leuven station on Tuesday. It concerns a 32-year-old man of Lebanese descent from Brussels, according to the Leuven Public Prosecutor's Office.
The man's body was found at around 07:50 on Tuesday morning at the rear of the station, on the Kessel-Lo side. The police and emergency services came to the scene, followed by the forensic lab and a medical doctor for the necessary investigations.
"The external autopsy did not immediately reveal elements that indicate malicious intent," a spokesperson for the Leuven Public Prosecutor Liesbeth Lekens told Belga News Agency. "To bring more clarity, an autopsy has been ordered for tomorrow."
While the exact cause of death is not yet clear, there are not currently any indications that the man was killed.
