Two teenagers from Anderlecht appeared before Court on Monday for their involvement in a fight in Hal in February 2021, during which their 26-year-old adversary was stabbed in the leg.

The prosecution contends that the defendants assaulted the victim, throwing the first blow.

The fight allegedly broke out because of an argument between two young women, who had agreed to fight. One of the women then allegedly called a friend, J.D., after which the other also called two people, M.E. and A.S., for backup,

The two men took J.D. to task and a fight broke out, during which J.D. received a stab wound, the prosecution explained. “One of the girls and a witness said the knife was given by a young man wearing glasses,” the prosecution added. “The only one wearing glasses was A.S.”

The Office of the Public Prosecutor requested a 150-hour work sentence for A.S and a 100-hour sentence for M.E.

Both adolescents asked to be acquitted. Their lawyer argued that the knife originally belonged to J.D. and that he had first headbutted M.E. before assaulting A.S.

Judgment will be handed down on 23 May.
