Metros have been running again on metro lines 1 and 5 since a little before 13:00, after a metro derailed at around 05:30 on Friday morning, disrupting metro traffic between Arts-Loi and Beekkant.
Since the start of Friday's service, no metros ran between Arts-Loi and Beekkant after a minor derailment, but around noon the incident was handled and service restored.
“When the first metro carriage left this morning, a minor derailment occurred. Very few people were still on board and they were evacuated. There were no injuries,” said STIB spokesperson An Van hamme. “A small fire also started at the back of the metro carriage, but it was extinguished by the driver himself.”
