The sun will finally make a long-expected regular appearance during the extended Labour Day weekend, the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) confirmed.

Saturday will start out cloudy and cold, with a chance of drizzling locally (especially over the eastern part of the country), however, during the afternoon, some clearings will develop from the French border and the west.

In the coastal region, blue skies and sunshine are expected to be constant later in the day, however, moderate wind will turn north resulting in the mercury not climbing above 12 or 13°C near the sea.

In the Eastern Cantons, it will take until the evening for the sky to clear, with the possibility of some drizzle there. Elsewhere, it will be mostly dry. Maxima will be between 11°C in the High Fens (southern Belgium) and 16 or 17°C in the southwest of the country.

Saturday evening and night will be dry and slightly cloudy everywhere. Minima will drop to between 1 and 8°C.

Sunday will first be sunny with a high cloud cover. Afterwards follows an alternation of cloud fields and occasional sunny spells. It will remain almost dry with maxima between 13 and 18°C with weak to moderate winds.
