Rail traffic resumed at around 11:00 between Ottignies and Brussels, in both directions, Infrabel said on Monday.
Train traffic had been interrupted during the morning rush hour after a person was hit by a train near Profondsart (Walloon Brabant province) shortly before 8:00. It was the first time that a train had been suspended in both directions.
An Infrabel spokesperson stated that further delays were still expected until mid-afternoon.
A hundred trains were affected by the accident: 60 were delayed while 42 had to be cancelled. The SNCB had set up a bus service for travellers on the affected line.
The circumstances of the accident are not yet known and emergency services were at the scene.
