Charleroi centre appeals for donations to emergency kits for victims of violence

Charleroi’s Victim Support Centre launched an appeal for donations on Monday to create emergency kits for victims of violence forced to leave their homes in a hurry.

Donations can be made for seven different types of kits.

The Centre helps victims of domestic violence in particular, offering them social, legal and psychological support.

Some time ago, a Charleroi resident approached the Centre asking for help. Eventually the idea of an appeal for donations to put together kits was born.

“These kits are valuable for families who have to leave their homes to go to emergency accommodation without having the opportunity to take the bare necessities with them,” Alicia Monard, Charleroi’s alderman for Equal Opportunities, explained.

The donations should make it possible to put together seven types of kits: food, household, kitchen, toiletries, bedding, children, mobile phone.

The condition of the donated material must be impeccable.
